FAQs
Know your program
What’s the difference between a certificate, diploma, and degree?
Certificates are short, focused programs that build specific skills for entry-level roles. Diplomas take a bit longer to earn, and may include more comprehensive job training. Degrees (AAS or BS) offer a broader academic foundation and deeper subject expertise, often required for advanced roles or licensure.
What does AAS mean vs. BS?
AAS stands for Associate of Applied Science and usually takes about two years to complete. BS stands for Bachelor of Science, a four-year degree that provides more in-depth training and broader career opportunities.
What is a concentration?
A concentration is a focused area of study within a broader degree. For example, a Business Administration BS might include a concentration in Human Resources or Project Management.
Can I take classes online?
Yes. Many Academy College business programs, as well as some fast-track options, offer online or hybrid formats. Aviation programs typically require on-campus instruction for hands-on training.
Can I start with a fast-track program and move into a degree?
Yes. Fast-track programs can be a great way to build skills quickly. In many cases, credits earned can be applied toward a future degree at Academy College.
