Veterans’ education benefits

We proudly accept education benefits from the U.S. Departments of Veterans Affairs (VA) and Defense. Below is a summary of the programs available to eligible service members, veterans, and their families.

Military student programs

Eligibility: At least 90 days of aggregate active duty service after September 10, 2001, or discharge with a service-connected disability after 30 days. An honorable discharge is required.

Coverage: Up to 36 months of tuition, fees, housing allowance, and book stipends. Eligible service members may also transfer unused benefits to dependents.

Eligibility: Dependents of veterans who meet specific service or disability criteria.

Coverage: Up to 45 months of benefits for degree and certificate programs, apprenticeships, and on-the-job training. Spouses may also take correspondence courses. Remedial, deficiency, and refresher training may be approved under certain circumstances.

Eligibility: Active and reserve service members approved through their Educational Services Office (ESO) or branch-specific portal.

Coverage: Financial support for voluntary, off-duty education, available for classroom and distance learning. By law, officers who use TA incur a service obligation (two years active duty or four years reserve duty).

Good questions

Start by visiting the official VA site. Submit your application online. Once approved, you’ll receive a Certificate of Eligibility (COE). Provide a copy of your COE to Academy College’s Financial Aid Office so we can certify your enrollment. Veterans can also manage their benefits at eBenefits.

It depends. If you qualify for 100% Post-9/11 GI Bill® coverage, you may not be eligible for the Academy College tuition discount. Our Financial Aid Office can help clarify how your benefits apply.

No. Flight costs for Aviation programs are considered additional charges and are not covered by Yellow Ribbon.

Yes. If your benefits are transferable and approved by the VA, dependents may apply them toward tuition and fees at Academy College.
