The Sherm Booen Legacy Scholarship
The Sherm Booen Legacy Scholarship honors the legacy of a great Minnesota aviator and lifelong aviation advocate. The scholarship provides meaningful financial assistance to students pursuing professional pilot training or aviation business studies at Academy College.
Each year, two students receive a $5,000 award. Scholarship funds can be renewed for each grade level of the program — up to a maximum of $10,000 across Aviation Flight and Aviation Business Programs.

Eligibility
To qualify for the Sherm Booen Legacy Scholarship, students must:
- Be enrolled in a qualifying aviation degree program at Academy College
- Complete a 500-word (minimum) essay
- Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA
- Provide two letters of recommendation

Applications for the Sherm Booen Legacy Scholarship are reviewed annually.
- Accepting applications: Jan 1 – Feb 28, 2026
- Applicant interviews: Mar 1-31, 2026
- Scholarship Awarded: Apr 1, 2026
How to Apply
To apply for the Sherm Booen Legacy Scholarship, students must:
- Complete the Academy College scholarship application form
- Submit a 500-word essay and two letters of recommendation
- Verify eligibility and GPA requirements with the Admissions Office
- Turn in all application materials by the posted annual deadline
